STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC welcomes Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves SC to Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium on Thursday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. ET for a USL W League South Central Division matchup. South Georgia enters the match following last Thursday’s 1-1 draw in Columbia, South Carolina, against SC United Bantams.
Forward Tess Werts continued her offensive success on the pitch in the match against SC United with a first half goal to put South Georgia in front. The South Carolina side equalized later in the first half, but South Georgia dispelled a flurry of chances in front of goal in the second half. Neither side was able to find the breakthrough, and the points were shared.
Through four matches so far in the regular season, Tormenta FC sits at 1-1-2 (W-L-D) on five points. Head Coach Jim Robbins and his staff will look to pick up three more points in search of a second division title and berth into the USL W League Playoffs.
The Lady Red Wolves boast a 3-1-1 record in division play this season, most recently falling 1-0 away to SC United Bantams. Clarrissa Salinas, forward for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, leads the Tennessee side in goals this season with three. South Georgia will look to stifle the midfielder’s goal-scoring record when the two teams clash.
In June of 2021, Tormenta FC was named a founding member of the USL W League, an elite pre-professional pathway for women looking to build their careers both on and off the pitch. Tormenta FC won its first-ever USL W League title in 2022 after defeating the Minnesota Aurora in front of 6,500 fans in Eagan, Minnesota.

In just one year, Tormenta FC’s USL W League team has produced six professional players with Sydney Martinez joining Jenae Packard, Emily Burke, Kelly Giddes, Abigail Wolf and Jodi Medina as the latest player to sign a contract in Europe.
