STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC shined tonight, toppling North Texas SC 2-0 at Erk Russell Park to boost the team to fourth in the USL League One standings. Tonight’s result was Tormenta FC’s first clean sheet since July 3, as well as the club’s first win against North Texas SC.

In the 30th minute, English defender Curtis Thorn sent in a perfect cross, which Austrian midfielder Luca Mayr-Fälten placed into the bottom-left corner of the net, notching his fifth goal of the season and putting Tormenta FC on the board.
Two minutes later, Mayr-Fälten sent in a brilliant long ball to Azaad Liadi, who scored a clinical header, doubling the home side’s score.
In the second half, the Tormenta FC back line stood strong to hold off North Texas’s dangerous attacks. Despite the away side’s efforts to score late, Tormenta FC came away with all three points.
