SAVANNAH, Ga. – April 24, 2024 – Tanner Ezell, an 8-year-old on Tormenta’s 2015 Boys Ibis I team in Savannah, Georgia, is one of South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Bolt Sportsmanship Award for the 2023-2024 season.

Ezell has been playing soccer since he was just three years old and joined the Tormenta FC Academy family one year later. The 8-year-old powerhouse has no plans on quitting the sport anytime soon and hopes to keep growing in his skills and gameplay techniques.
The young winger chooses to continue playing with Tormenta FC because of the opportunities provided on and off the pitch, such as tournaments, travel, and moments to have fun with his friends and coach.
Ezell says he looks up to his soccer coach and Lionel Messi for their hard work on the pitch and the wealth of skills they possess.
“My ultimate goal in soccer is to be the best player in the world,” the young player explained. With the commitment to the sport and leadership skills displayed at an early age, Ezell is well on his way to achieving his dream.
Ezell was awarded the 2024 Bolt Sportsmanship Award for his team, selected by his coach, Jack Rittmeyer, for his leadership, patience and growth. The Tormenta FC Academy’s main goal is to develop players to reach their highest playing potential, which is truly on display through Ezell, as he grows in his skills each season.
“Tanner Ezell epitomizes sportsmanship, blending skill with humility, and cherishing victories not only for their achievement but also for the connections they cultivate,” Coach Rittmeyer said.
When Ezell was notified that he had won the Bolt Sportsmanship Award for his team, he was elated. “It meant a lot when I won, and I felt like a really good leader on my team,” he explained.
Ezell enjoys having the opportunity to help other players on the pitch, getting to help his friends master new skills. His favorite memory of soccer was winning a big tournament hosted by Tormenta FC with all of his friends on his team.
Friends and family members of Tanner Ezell can watch him and other recipients of the Bolt Sportsmanship Award receive their awards at halftime during the April 27 USL League One match against Charlotte Independence hosted at Tormenta Stadium.
