Veteran defender Daniel Strachan is ready to kick off his second season with TFC 2 and hopes to lead the team with his 2019 experience and training with the first team last spring. Strachan is a senior at Akron University, a regularly ranked Top 10 NSCAA collegiate men's soccer program. Bringing his leadership to the 2021 roster, Strachan will be a key player for TFC 2 in the back line.
“I love Coach Tom’s style of play, and I think the players that we have right now are capable of doing that,” Strachan said. “Just two days in, we can see that starting to develop and the chemistry starting to build.”
Tormenta 2’s fresh roster will be put to the test against its first opponent, the Southern Soccer Academy Kings. The SSA Kings kick off their inaugural season in USL League Two with a tough matchup versus the established TFC 2, which enters the season as the reigning 2019 Deep South Division and Southern Conference champions.
The 14-match League Two season will spread across 10 weeks of regular season play beginning May 11. This pre-professional league will offer players the chance to hone in on crucial technical and tactical skills before making the leap to the professional level. Coach Morris hopes to create an environment for young guys to grow as players, as well as be recruited by the Tormenta FC’s League One team. Since beginning play in 2016, TFC 2 has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams.
