Tormenta FC Signs English Defender Michael O’Sullivan
South Georgia Tormenta FC has signed Michael O’Sullivan to its 2019 USL League One team, pending league and federation approval. The 6’2” 190-pound centerback hails from Chelmsford, England and has professional experience in the North American Soccer League.
Prior to signing with Tormenta FC, O’Sullivan played for four amateur teams: Orlando City U23, Kraze United NPSL, North County United PDL, and Palm Beach United NPSL. O’Sullivan also played professionally for Jacksonville Armada FC.
“Mike is a player that I have tracked for a few years,” USL League One head coach John Miglarese said.
“His size, athleticism, and composure on the ball make him an ideal center back for us,” Miglarese said. “His experience playing in the NASL will also be vital as we build a young team.”
O’Sullivan graduated in 2017 from Palm Beach Atlantic University with an Accounting degree. He was a D2CCA All-American Honorable Mention in 2015 and made the All-South Region First Team. In 2016, O’Sullivan led the Sailfish men’s soccer team as the captain. During that year, he appeared on the NSCAA All-South First Team and the D2CCA All-South Region Second Team.
“I look forward to starting up with Tormenta FC and hit the ground running,” O’Sullivan said. “Taking the next step into USL League One is a huge deal, not only for the club, but in developing US Soccer and continuing the growth of the sport.”
“I’m excited to do everything I can to help lead the club to great success and develop over the next season,” O’Sullivan said.
