STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC 2 hosts Asheville City SC this Tuesday, May 24, at Erk Russell Park at 7:30 p.m. ET. Frenchmen JC Ngandu and Yazid Omri scored their first goals for the club last Tuesday, helping Tormenta FC 2 obtain its first win of the season against in-state rivals East Atlanta FC.
Tormenta FC 2’s convincing win on Tuesday is a stepping stone into the win column for South Georgia, who currently sit fourth with four points in the South Central Division with two games played (one win, one draw). Although Tormenta FC 2’s first game ended up in a draw, the gameplay and progression were in favor of TFC 2.
In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 held Asheville City SC winless with two dominating 4-0 and 3-0 results, one on the road and one away. Tormenta FC 2 looks to add to that stat line and earn its second win of the season to recover first place in the South Central Division.
Asheville City SC comes to Erk Russell Park as the current division leader after winning its first two games against One Knoxville SC and the Dalton Red Wolves. Asheville City will look for its first win against Tormenta FC 2 this Tuesday.
TFC 2 kicks off a week full of Tormenta FC action on Tuesday. Tormenta FC W League returns on Wednesday as the squad will play its rescheduled game against Peachtree City Moba at 6:00 p.m. ET. Two days later, Tormenta FC W League travels to South Carolina to take on Southern Soccer Academy. On Saturday, Tormenta FC will receive a visit from FC Tucson in USL League One play.
South Georgia’s pre-professional soccer team, Tormenta FC 2, has helped nearly 50 players achieve their professional dreams since 2015. TFC 2 finished its season as champion of the Deep South Division in 2018 before making a run to the League Two Semifinals for the first time in club history in 2019. In 2021, Tormenta FC 2 finished the season with a 12-4-1 overall record (10-3-1 in the regular season), qualifying for the League Two Playoffs for a third straight season.
