STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC is delighted to announce Head Coach and Technical Director Ian Cameron has agreed with the club to extend his tenure at Tormenta FC with a new multi-year contract. Cameron has been the Tormenta FC Head Coach and Technical Director with Tormenta FC since 2020 and also served as the Head Coach for Tormenta FC 2 in USL League Two from 2019-2020.
“2022 gave our club and fan base a taste of what is achievable when we form a special relationship. My family and the Tormenta coaching staff I get to work with believe more is possible in 2023. We’re grateful to the belief the organization has shown in our young staff over the past two seasons, and we’re desperate to keep repaying that with success on the field and in our community.”

Cameron’s time at South Georgia is one laden with success. Cameron produced Tormenta FC’s first USL League One title in the 2022 League One season, concluded the regular season with the team’s first winning record, and finished the regular season in third – its highest finish to date. In addition, Cameron also produced the most successful Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup run for Tormenta FC. Cameron and his squad made it to the Fourth Round of the national competition, knocking down USL Championship sides Charleston Battery and Birmingham Legion before taking on Major League Soccer side Inter Miami CF in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In his 89 games as Head Coach for the Tormenta FC organization, Cameron has produced 41 wins, three of those coming in the team’s first-ever League One Playoffs appearance in 2022. Cameron is the longest-serving Head Coach in Tormenta FC’s history, managing 67 games for the professional side since 2020.
Cameron formerly served as the Head Coach of the USL League Two team and as a League One assistant coach under John Miglarese. Cameron has been with Tormenta since its 2019 season, where he led Tormenta FC 2 to a Southern Conference championship and the League Two Semifinals, the longest playoff run in club history.
Cameron, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, was formerly the Head Coach for the Eckerd College Men’s Soccer team. Before Eckerd College, Cameron served as the Assistant Coach for the NCAA Division I Mercer University Men’s Soccer team for three years. His coaching and recruitment led the team to win Mercer’s first Southern Conference Championship. During his time at Mercer, Cameron also worked with the Macon Soccer Club.
