STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s USL League One team has announced the four nominees for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award for May, and the community will help decide the winner. Defender Nick Akoto, midfielders Tobias Otieno and Jackson Khoury and forward Arthur Bosua are all up for the award after a superb month of May that saw them win one, draw one and lose one.
Voting for the Tormenta FC Player of the Month award will run through Thursday, June 8, at 11:59 p.m. ET, with voting permitted once per day. The winner will be determined via a weighted vote from the following three voting bodies:
- A fan vote (poll below) will comprise 60 percent of the poll.
- The Tormenta FC staff ballots will comprise 20 percent of the poll.
- Media ballots comprise 20 percent of the poll.
- Voting results will be announced on Friday, June 9.
Player of the Month Nominees:
Nick Akoto, Defender: Akoto recorded his first professional goal to earn South Georgia a point against Richmond. The 24-year-old defender also leads the team in aerial duals won.
Tobias Otieno, Midfielder: Otieno’s presence throughout the Tormenta FC midfield continued to stand out as the midfielder from Kenya leads the team in completed passes. Otieno had three spectacular performances in the month of May following a goal in Tormenta FC’s loss at Central Valley and assisting once last Saturday.
Jackson Khoury, Midfielder: Khoury continues to be a strong offensive presence for South Georgia. The first-year rookie currently leads the team in goals scored and is one of the league leaders in chances created. In May, Khoury featured in all three matches, totaling 266 minutes.
Arthur Bosua, Forward: Bosua returned to the starting lineup following almost a year of inactivity in the team’s second game of May. Against Central Valley, the South African forward scored his first goal of the season. Bosua also featured against the Kickers, where he proved to be a strong offensive asset to Ian Cameron’s side.
