STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC is set to take on the Northern Colorado Hailstorm for the second time in 2023 this Saturday, June 17, from Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. In the first fixture between both sides this season, the Colorado side defeated the reigning 2022 USL League One Champion.
Tormenta FC finished level 1-1 against Lexington SC last Saturday. Forward Kazaiah Sterling scored early on for Tormenta FC via a penalty kick, earning his second consecutive goal in two matches. To note, Sterling became the sixth player to captain Tormenta FC in its professional history.
South Georgia will look to continue gaining momentum after three consecutive undefeated matches, two of those being at home. Now against Hailstorm FC, the home side will aim to get its second regular season home win with most of the team being available for selection this Saturday.
On Saturday, South Georgia will take on one of the highest goal-scoring teams in the league (17) scoring every 52.9 minutes. South Georgia will aim to secure its second-ever away against Hailstorm FC with its last win coming on September 10, when Kazaiah Sterling was the hat-trick hero.
Midfielders Matheus Cassini and Kingsford Adjei are still recovering from previous injuries, making them unavailable for selection this weekend.
