STATESBORO, Ga. – May 9, 2024 –Former South Georgia Tormenta FC winger Hannah Theriault signed her first professional contract with FC Pinzgau of the second Austrian division.
Theriault was a member of Tormenta FC’s 2023 W League team, which finished third in the Southern Conference South Central Division. Prior to playing with Tormenta FC, Theriault spent four years at Middle Georgia State University where she made 48 appearances and 25 starts for the knights.
Being a part of Tormenta was huge. I developed both as a player and person,” Theriault explained, looking back at the impact Tormenta FC had on her development. “Tormenta utilizes their resources to help players reach their goals and I’m now equipped with the tools and knowledge I need to take my career to the next level. I am thankful for the connections I made throughout the club and will continue to support Tormenta FC.
The winger wrote herself into Middle Georgia State University record books having finished her career second in both career assists with 18 and career points with 114. She also finished her collegiate career third for both career goals with 48 and game winning goals with 13.
Head coach of the Tormenta FC W League team, Jim Robbins spoke on his former player saying, “This is a tremendous opportunity for Hannah to take the next step in her soccer journey. She has proven that she can play and score goals at the college, and pre-professional levels and now she will get her chance to compete at the professional level. I know Hannah is ready for this challenge and will represent herself and Tormenta FC well at FC Pinzgau.”
In June of 2021, Tormenta FC was named a founding member of the USL W League, an elite pre-professional pathway for women looking to build their careers on and off the pitch. Tormenta FC won its first-ever USL W League title in 2022 after defeating the Minnesota Aurora in front of 6,500 fans in Eagan, Minnesota.
Tormenta FC provides local and national players opportunities to develop and start their professional careers in Statesboro, Georgia. Hannah Theriault is one of ten Tormenta FC USL W League players who have signed a professional contract. The nine other professional players are Jenae Packard, Emily Burke, Kelly Giddes, Abigail Wolf, Amy Andrews, Peyton Chick, Makenna Gottschalk, Sydney Martinez, and Jodi Medina.
