STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC will host USL Championship club Charleston Battery in the final preseason match this weekend. Charleston Battery is the oldest continuously-operating professional soccer club in the United States. The match will kick off at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 2 at Tormenta Stadium. Charleston Battery will play Tormenta FC following a 17-8-9 (W-D-L) record in its 2023 season. In the previous season, Tormenta FC put up a record of 12-6-14 (W-D-L) throughout its 2023 campaign. These teams faced off before in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup where South Georgia Tormenta FC reigned victorious with a final score of 0-1. South Georgia Tormenta FC built an impressive roster for the upcoming 2024 season with six of its original 2023 roster members returning to Tormenta Stadium once again.
Saturday is Tormenta FC’s final preseason match going into the 2024 USL League One season. Following this weekend’s match against Charleston Battery, South Georgia Tormenta FC will kick off the 2024 regular season on March 9 against Central Valley Fuego, which had a 2023 record of 6-5-21 (W-D-L).
