STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC is delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Philip “Ajmeer” Spengler, pending league and federation approval. He joins the club on a performance based contract after spending the preseason as a trialist.

“This opportunity is a huge blessing for me and I’m extremely thankful towards Tormenta for giving me my first professional contract and allowing me to be a part of such a close knit community,” Spengler said.
Spengler most recently played at the University of South Florida during the 2022 and 2023 season, starting in 35 out of 36 games, scoring nine goals and racking up eight assists. He was instrumental in assisting his team during their NCAA Tournament appearances and earned the First Team All-Conference accolade in his senior year.
Prior to transferring to the University of South Florida, Spengler played the 2019 and 2020 season at Stetson University, where he totaled eight goals and provided three assists.
The midfielder jumpstarted his path to the USL by playing in the developmental academy for the Clearwater Chargers located in Clearwater, Florida.
“Ajmeer arrived on trial with strong recommendations from people in the game we have built good trust with. Namely Bob Butehorn (USF) and the Rowdies staff,” Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “Ajmeer quickly demonstrated he’s brave on the ball, can beat players, can ride challenges, and has the appetite to defend and win the ball back for his teammates. He’s of the ilk of guys like Mukwelle Akale who thrived with us in previous seasons, so we’re excited to see how he uses our platform to develop his career.”
Watch Spengler in action at South Georgia Tormenta FC’s home opener at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Tormenta Stadium.
