STATESBORO, Ga. – South Georgia Tormenta FC has signed 23-year-old Chilean winger Pedro Campos from CD Antofagasta in the Chilean Second Division. Campos joins South Georgia on a two-year deal, pending league and federation approval.

Estoy muy contento de llegar a tomerta fc y espero ser un gran aporte para el equipo.” Campos said. (Translation:”I am very happy to join Tormenta FC and I hope to be a great contribution to the team.”)
Campos joins Tormenta FC after most recently playing for CD Antofagasta in the Primera B. Prior to the move to CD Antofagasta, Campos spent the 2022 season playing in the Primera División and Copa Sudamericana for CD Everton.
Campos also played in Europe before returning to his home country. In the 2021-2022 season, he played in the Israeli Premier League for Bnei Yehuda, making 24 appearances. He tallied three assists in four games during the relegation round; however, the team was still relegated, missing safety by just one point.
The Chilean winger made his professional debut for Necaxa, making nine appearances across the Copa MX, Liga MX Clausura, and Copa MX Clausura. During the 2018-2019 season, Campos provided two assists and was a member of the 2018 Supercopa MX winning squad. He spent most of his time at Necaxa playing for the U-20 squad, where he scored four goals and made 15 appearances.
He represented Chile U17 at the South American U-17 Championship, where he provided one assist and featured in all three matches of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Campos and Chile finished as runner-ups in the South American U-17 Championship, losing to Brazil in the final.
“Pedro brings special qualities to our group. He’s really dynamic with his pace, either carrying the ball past players or penetrating with off-the-ball movement,” Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “He’s also got that hunger to fulfill his potential having experienced European football at a young age. Wingers have always been focal points of our teams here at Tormenta and we’re excited for Pedro to add a new chapter there.”
South Georgia is back in action at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 16, as the team faces Forward Madison FC at Tormenta Stadium. Fans can purchase tickets for the match here!
