STATESBORO, Ga. – May 7, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC is proud to announce the signing of forward Ashley Henderson, who joins the USL W League roster pending league and federation approval.
“I’m blessed by Jesus to be given the opportunity to play for Tormenta FC this year, Henderson said. “I’m looking forward to this season and I’m very excited!”
Henderson of Memphis, Tennessee, comes to South Georgia following a stellar freshman year performance with the University of Memphis Women’s Soccer team. During her first season with the Memphis Tigers, Henderson played alongside other South Georgia Tormenta FC W League players Momo Nakao and Sarah Hagg.
Henderson appeared in 21 matches during the 2023 season, tallying an impressive four goals and one assist. Notably, Henderson scored the game-winning goal in a match against Notre Dame, which catapulted her team to the NCAA Round of 16.
“Ashley is another athletically gifted goal scorer who gives us an additional attacking threat up front. She has proven she can score big goals against the toughest opponents in her short time playing at the NCAA DI level. Her speed and quickness are unmatched. I am confident that she will be able to get in behind our opponent’s backline and be a threat to score every time she touches the ball. I look forward to watching her challenge some center backs this summer.”
