STATESBORO, Ga. – May 13, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC re-signs forward Elise Holcey to the 2024 W League roster, pending league and federation approval. Holcey made history in 2021, as she was the first player ever to sign a W League contract upon the inception of the women’s pre-professional league.
“I’m so excited to be coming back to the boro again and to be playing with a very talented team,” Holcey said. “I am very blessed to receive the excellent training and compete with extremely talented girls. I love the speed here and how the art of soccer is expressed to the fullest here. I can’t wait for this season! Vamos Tormenta!”
Even prior to joining the W League, Holcey was no stranger to the Tormenta family. She was raised in the Tormenta FC Academy, acting as a captain of the ‘03/’04 Ibis team before joining the USL Academy team.
Holcey plays on the Campbell University Women’s Soccer team where she has played in a total of 24 matches during her freshman and sophomore year. During the 2022 season, the striker recorded a shot on goal for Campbell when the team visited Radford University to tie up the match.
Holcey was also a member of the 2022 Tormenta FC USL W League team, who emerged as USL W League Champions.
“Elise is another crafty striker/winger player who is agile, quick and can be dangerous and score goals,” Head Coach Jim Robbins said. “She has gained valuable experience the past two summers and we look forward to her continued development this season. I am confident that she will make some more key contributions to the team as we strive to achieve our stated goals.”
