STATESBORO, Ga. – May 14, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC is thrilled to announce the signing of Danish midfielder Andrea Ougaard, pending league and federation approval. She joins the club following her second season with Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU).
“I am super excited for this season with Tormenta, which will also be the first one for me with the team,” Ougaard said. “I hope to improve my own game and help the team win back the title, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Ougaard joins South Georgia after making 19 appearances for FDU last season. During the 2023 campaign, she contributed one goal and two assists to the Knights. In 2022, the midfielder netted three goals in 11 appearances, including a match-winning goal scored in the 85th minute against Saint Francis University.
During the 2021-2022 season, Ougaard made seven appearances for the Danish first division team Brøndby. She also made the bench for two of the club’s UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying matches, the highest level of competition for clubs across Europe.
“Andrea is a great addition to our deep lying midfield position. She can create and play the game with either foot and can play the correct passes at the correct time,” Head Coach Jim Robbins said. “She also has great confidence and composure on the ball and rarely looks stressed on the field. Her self-confidence and poise will be critically important in our game model and our build up play.”
