STATESBORO, Ga. – May 21, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Sebastián Vivas, Ajmeer Spengler, Aaron Lombardi, Nick Akoto, and Ford Parker were named to the USL League One Team of the Week for week nine. Vivas earned himself the Player of the Week award for his outstanding performance in the team’s 4-0 routing of the Chattanooga Red Wolves, where he netted two goals and provided one assist.
Vivas opened and closed the scoring for the Ibises Saturday night, finding the back of the net in the ninth and 75th minute to bring his season tally to seven goals in all competitions. He also played three key passes, one of which was an assist for teammate Niall Watson, who netted South Georgia’s third goal of the evening.
“We’re delighted Seba has been recognized this week,” Head Coach Ian Cameron said. “He has brought great spirit to his and his family’s adaptation to this country and our club, and now on the field we’re starting to see him play with more instinct, more cutting edge. He received some really good service from his team on Saturday and he made the difference.”
Spengler netted his first professional goal in the 60th minute on the receiving end of a Nick Akoto cross. The midfielder also picked up his team-leading sixth assist in all competitions, providing an excellent cross for Vivas to secure his brace.
