STATESBORO, Ga. – May 17, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC will take on the Richmond Kickers in the USL Jägermeister Cup at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Tormenta Stadium. The match will be the second time these two sides have faced each other during the 2024 campaign.
Recipe Review
South Georgia enters the match, thumping the Chattanooga Red Wolves with a 4-0 score. The Richmond Kickers enter Saturday’s match without a win in its last seven games. The Kickers sit third in the USL Jägermeister Cup east group standings, with the Ibises just a point behind in fourth.
Key Ingredients
Sebastián Vivas secured the USL League One Player of the Week award for his brace and assist in Saturday’s match against Chattanooga. The forward currently leads South Georgia with seven goals in all competitions. Vivas’ relentless pressing has also proven to be a weapon for the Ibises, as he stole the ball from a Red Wolves defender to set up Niall Watson’s goal.
Aaron Lombardi returned to the team on Saturday following an injury he picked up in Omaha. The defender assisted the opening goal for Tormenta with a cross that Vivas tucked away. Lombardi also led the team with three interceptions. His partnership with Jackson Khoury on the left wing will be a threat for South Georgia moving forward.
Foe’s Formula
Former Tormenta FC midfielder Adrian Billhardt leads the Kickers in goals with five across all competitions. Billhardt has played primarily on the right side of midfield for the Kickers, meaning Head Coach Ian Cameron will look to Lombardi and Khoury to limit the German midfielder’s impact.
