STATESBORO, Ga. – May 24, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s W League team hosts NC Courage U23 at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 26 for the Ibises’ home opener.

Tormenta FC won its season opener with a resounding 0-5 score against Fayetteville Fury. On May 19, South Georgia played the Courage, which ended 1-1 after two goals were scored in the opening three minutes. Sunday’s match was NC Courage’s first game of the 2024 W League season. The NC Courage U23 team is coming off a strong 2023 campaign that saw them make the USL W League final, losing 2-1 to Indy Eleven.
Key Ingredients
Forward Courtney Chochol played a pivotal role in the last match, netting the equalizer in the third minute for the Ibises. Chochol’s goal was her first in South Georgia following her most recent season at Quinnipiac University, where she netted 10 goals and provided nine assists.
The Tormenta FC starting backline of Jhenesis Ellerbe, Jodi Smith, Briana Eads, and Natalia Santangelo has allowed just one goal this season. Head Coach Jim Robbins will expect more of the same as the team looks to beat NC Courage in Sunday’s clash.

NC Courage defender Kayleigh Herr, who spent time training with the U.S. Youth National Team Camps, will look to pose a risk once again for South Georgia, having scored the opening goal in last weekend’s match.
