STATESBORO, Ga. – June 24, 2024 – South Georgia Tormenta FC’s Jake Dengler has been named to the week 12 USL League One Team of the Week, his second consecutive week receiving the honor. Dengler played a key role in the heart of South Georgia’s defense and found the back of the net early in the second half against Chattanooga.
During Saturday’s match, Dengler continued to showcase why he has been a threat on South Georgia’s attacking set pieces. In the 48th minute, the 6-foot-5-inch defender found himself on the end of Mason Tunbrdige’s free kick, scoring to give South Georgia a 2-1 lead.
Saturday night’s captain also made several key defensive plays as Tormenta looked to hold on with just 10 men on the field. During the 90 minutes, Dengler completed four clearances, three interceptions, and three tackles. He also won three out of his four ground duels and all six of his aerial duels.
