This match marked the second time South Georgia had taken on the Fury in the 2024 campaign. In the two teams’ last battle during Tormenta’s season opener, South Georgia beat out the Fury with a 0-5 score.
Tormenta FC’s Carlyn Presley opened the scoring early, finding the back of the net off of a rebound before the time clock struck double digits. The dynamic duo Chochol and Presley found another major scoring opportunity in the 34th minute, each taking a shot on goal, but both attempts were saved by the Fury’s backline.
While Tormenta’s attackers kept the ball in the Fury’s half for much of the match, Tormenta’s defense made several key blocks and clearances to continue supporting Tormenta’s quest in netting as many goals as possible in its last match of the season.
In the 39th minute, Presley upgraded her goal scoring from a brace to a hat trick, scoring her third goal before halftime.
With a first-half hat trick, intense attacking movements by Tormenta endured into the second half. Multiple promising chances came to Tormenta, with corner kicks and free kicks emerging early into the second half.
